Wills, Trusts and Probate Costs

We appreciate how important it is to have an idea of how much our services may cost before you go further in instructing us. Below are our fixed fee packages for certain services. Most other services will ultimately depend on your particular circumstances.
The cost of making a Will, setting up a Trust or dealing with Probate can often depend on the complexity of your circumstances and the level of assistance you require from Ali Legal Ltd.
We offer a free 45-minute initial consultation meeting (at our London office or remotely) during which we will discuss and assess your circumstances, your desired outcome and provide you with the initial advice. The below costing guidelines will apply thereafter should you wish to instruct us;

Probate

Full administration: £5,000 + VAT for simple estates. If the estate is HNW, more complex and there are potential disputes and claims etc. £7,000 + VAT. This includes:

  • Providing initial advice
  • Gathering the necessary evidence needed for the Probate application
  • Applying for the Grant of Representation
  • Collecting in the estate assets
  • Paying tax, liabilities and legacies
  • Dealing with HMRC negotiations
  • Preparation of full estate accounts and tax returns
  • Distributing the residue of the estate to the entitled beneficiaries.
In the event probate becomes contentious (defending a Will), further costs will be incurred, this will be reviewed and an estimate provided should this arise.
  • Grant Only: start from £1,200 + VAT for simple estates ***these are just our fees and do not include costs for disbursements which clients will need to provide funding for separately. The probate application fee itself is £300 for estates valued at over £5,000 and £16 per extra copies of grant***

LPA’s

  • Property & Financial Affairs LPA: £600 + VAT
  • Health & Welfare LPA: £600 + VAT
  • Both: £950 + VAT
  • Health & Welfare LPA + Advance Decision (Living Will): £850 + VAT

Wills

  • Single Will (simple with no trusts and/or complex terms): £600 +VAT
  • Mirror Wills (simple with no trusts and/or complex terms): £900 + VAT
  • Trust Wills: £1,500 + VAT
  • Single Complex Will: from £3,500 + VAT
  • Mirror Complex Will: from £5,500 + VAT
  • Advance Decision (Living Will): £500 + VAT

Trusts

  • Bare trust holding cash: from £1,500 + VAT
  • A lifetime discretionary trust or life interest trust designed to hold cash or investments: £4,400 + VAT. This includes estate planning advice, the trust and letter of wishes, IHT reporting and trust registration with HMRC.
  • A personal injury trust to protect the award of a successful claim: will cost £3,200 + VAT. This fee comprises £1200 plus VAT for a report to assess which type of trust best suits your needs and a cost benefit analysis concerning the preparation of the trust documentation itself, if we are instructed to draft the trust then our fees will be £1,400 plus VAT for the documents and £600 for registering the trust with HMRC.

    **In addition, you may need help with transferring the assets into the trust, setting up bank accounts, inheritance tax returns and capital gains tax holdover claims. Fees for these services will be payable on top.

  • We also offer bespoke services (wills drafting and estate planning) for clients with offshore assets – particularly in the UAE, please speak to us for a discussion on your requirements and a quote.
  • Contentious Probate services for contesting a Will are also available, cost estimate provided following initial consultation.
